Graduation Update: June 16, 2021

Good Afternoon Cato-Meridian Community,

Thank you for hanging in there with us as we continue to adjust to changes to our graduation ceremony. Today we were informed by New York State the restrictions for outdoor high school graduation ceremonies have been lifted. Therefore, the Cato-Meridian Central School District is excited to announce there is NO NEED for a COVID test, proof of vaccinations, wearing a mask, etc. in order to attend our 2020-21 Commencement. Also, because our ceremony is an outdoor event please note the capacity limit has been lifted. Attendees will no longer need a graduation ticket to enter the event.

We have set aside six chairs per family. Since our graduation ceremony is approximately 48 hours away, we are asking additional attendees to bring their own chairs. Remember graduation set up includes the attendees sitting on our athletic field while the 2020-21 graduates will be in the stadium bleachers. We hope you understand, but it is just too late to change the setup of our graduation.

Our Drive-through COVID testing event scheduled for tomorrow is canceled. Again, no one needs to provide a negative test or proof of vaccination.

Ms. Molloy will be sending a letter with a few more details for our Senior families. Read Ms. Molloy's letter here.

Further details regarding specific ceremonies will be coming to 6th grade and Kindergarten families this afternoon from Mrs. Mahoney.

Once again, thank you for your partnership.

Dr. Terry L. Ward

Superintendent of Schools
