Sixteen Students Inducted to Cato-Meridian National Honor Society

On Wednesday, March 15, a select group of Cato-Meridian students and their families were invited to the auditorium for the 2023 National Honor Society (NHS) induction ceremony.

At the beginning of the ceremony, advisors Bridgit Johnson and Veronica Gloo spoke highly of this year’s inductees, emphasizing how proud they were of the students.

“Mrs. Johnson and I have enjoyed advising this group of students,” Gloo told the audience.

Both advisors explained that to be inducted, students had to exhibit the four pillars of NHS- character, scholarship, leadership, and service. All students achieved a cumulative grade point average of 90 percent or higher and completed community service projects.

NHS President Elizabeth Hess explained the emblem and spoke to one of the pillars, character. Vice President Maggie McGetrick, Secretary Riley Jones, and Treasurer Evelyn Burns then spoke to scholarship, leadership, and service, respectively. The officers lit candles for each quality before introducing Dr. Terry Ward, Superintendent, Paul Byrne, Board of Education President, and Jennifer Kelly, Junior-Senior High School Principal, who commended the inductees for their perseverance and dedication to their community.

Each senior NHS member then introduced an inductee. Inductees lit candles and sat in chairs on the stage, until all 16 of them were seated. They recited the NHS pledge and then enjoyed refreshments with their family members following the ceremony.

The 2023 Cato-Meridian NHS inductees are: Hannah Csiga, Preston Daggett, Hayley DeVille, Ashlee Donahue, Nadia Dudley, Elijah Haga, Mallory Howard, Carter Impson, Brandon Johnson, Jack Lamson, Vanessa Lees, Owen McGetrick, Kaydence Morrissette, London Pieratt, Merissa Richards, and Timothy Stahl.

They join NHS officers Elizabeth Hess, Maggie McGetrick, Riley Jones, and Evelyn Burns, as well as senior members Mason Carvey, Merritt Cox, Miranda Dennis, Audrey Hunter, Denis Kosiakov, Kaylee LaPrease, Ariana Proper, Caton Wilbert, Janelle Williams, and Julia Wilson.
