Board of Education Names Interim Superintendent
The Cato-Meridian Board of Education has appointed Mr. Michael Hoose as the Interim Superintendent of Schools. He will begin on Monday, January 6th, 2025. Below is an introductory letter from Mr. Hoose.
Dear Cato-Meridian Community,
My name is Michael Hoose and I have the honor of being selected as your Interim Superintendent. I appreciate the Board of Education selecting me for this important leadership role and look forward to working with them for the next six months.
Let me share a little of my background and the path that leads me to Cato-Meridian. I began my career as a Technology teacher teaching everything from construction to pre-engineering courses. I was then a 7-12 assistant principal in LeRoy and a K-12 principal in Arkport. My first superintendency was in Romulus, a small rural district of 460 students. After eight years as the Superintendent of the Cortland Enlarged City School District, I retired in 2020. I then served as an interim Superintendent for Tully CSD for six months and Rome City Schools for 10 months, as well as an interim Director of Facilities for Waterloo CSD. I also supervised capital projects for multiple districts as a Project Manager with a construction management firm. You could say that I am not good at retirement!
As you begin the process of selecting a new Superintendent my role as your interim Superintendent is to make the transition to your new district leader as seamless as possible. We are entering into a challenging time in public education as there are several changes on the horizon at the local, State, and Federal levels. My goal is to be a strong advocate for children, an effective communicator, and build upon the traditions and successes of our district.
I again thank the Board of Education for this opportunity and look forward to the next six months working together on behalf of the Cato-Meridian students, staff, and community. Please feel free to introduce yourself and come to me with any questions, concerns, or to share points of pride. Together we can make the educational experience for our children even better!
Go Blue Devils!
Michael Hoose
