BRIGHT FUTURES: Isaiah McIntyre Commits to Roberts Wesleyan University for Division II Cross Country, Track & Field

Cato-Meridian High School senior Isaiah McIntyre has officially committed to Roberts Wesleyan University, where he will compete on the school’s cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field teams. He is enthusiastic about the opportunity and excited for the future of his academic and athletic career.

McIntyre’s running career began in 10th grade, when he was craving a new challenge. “I said I was going to do it, I did it, and I told myself I needed to be better,” he said. “I put my mind to it and got where I’m supposed to be.”

He has a few favorite events, with the mile at the top of his list. “Cross country is number three- the environment is awesome,” he stated. “Number two is the 800-meter, and my favorite is the mile. I managed to hit a 5:12 time.”

After three years of determination in the sport, McIntyre is excited to take his skills to Roberts Wesleyan, where he will be competing in Division II cross country and track. Alongside athletics, he will be studying Criminal Justice and partaking in Army ROTC with plans to become a New York State police officer.

Eager to begin his time in higher education, McIntyre reflects on why he chose Roberts Wesleyan. “Out of all the colleges, Roberts Wesleyan had the best environment. Awesome people. It is a small college and it helped me a lot to get me where I need to go.”

McIntyre thanked coaches Travis Muhlnickel and Ryan Ellis for their positive influence during his tenure at Cato-Meridian. He also thanked Stacey Jones, his Criminal Justice instructor at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES, for her help in his academic journey.

With a solid plan in place and a busy schedule ahead, McIntyre is poised to embark on this new chapter. Confident in his future, he remains determined to improve at every opportunity.
