Cato-Meridian Seniors Awarded Seal of Biliteracy at World Languages Day

Eight seniors from Cato-Meridian Central School District earned the prestigious New York State Seal of Biliteracy at this year’s World Languages Day, which was held on Wednesday, April 23 at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES.

Cato-Meridian seniors who earned their Seal of Biliteracy were: Joseph Bonanno, Gavyn Brown, Hannah Deacy, Nathan Dennis, Bailey Impson, Gennavive Kerr, Michael Rudy, and Elaina Williams.

The event brought together students from across the region to celebrate outstanding academic achievement. Participants delivered presentations entirely in a second language before a panel of evaluators, showcasing their language proficiency and cultural knowledge.

The New York State Seal of Biliteracy is a distinction that recognizes high school seniors who have attained a high level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in two or more languages. This accomplishment will benefit these students as they pursue their goals after graduation in June.
