• Nucor Technical Academy

Nucor Steel Auburn is a steel manufacturing facility that manufactures rebar, merchant bar, and special bar quality steel located in Auburn, New York. We have been making steel here since 1974. The company's steel products are used in construction, metal fabricating, forging, mining transportation, agriculture and many other industries in North America.

We are recruiting high school graduates to go through a career specific training program and retain them to work for Nucor after graduation. This program teaches students the fundamentals of instrumentation and electrical maintenance. Students receive an Associates in Applied Science in Electrical Technology Industry Defined Training. The Nucor Technical Academy partners with Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. New this year, the program is now 2 years (6 semesters). The first Fall semester will be spent at Auburn, where they will be working and taking online general studies courses. The remaining 5 semesters will be on campus with courses at Shelton State and hands on training at the Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa Plant in Alabama during the semesters. This allows what they have learned in the classroom to be applied to real world applications. Upon successful completion of the program, students would be placed within a job opening at Nucor.
