District Smart Goals

  • District Smart Goals

SMART goals help improve achievement and success. A SMART goal clarifies exactly what is expected and the measures used to determine if the goal is achieved and successfully completed.

    • Goal 1: Improve ELA outcomes for all students Pre-K-12th grade. Students will demonstrate a year’s growth in reading.
    • Goal 2: Refine instructional strategies through the establishment of professional learning communities.
    • Goal 3: Boost the socio-emotional competencies of all students in the Cato-Meridian Central School District.
  • Literacy Action Plan

In accordance with our ELA district goal of "Improving ELA Scores K-12" the Literacy Action Plan outlines the steps we are taking to meet this goal. It includes providing valuable professional development for our teachers on the science of reading as well as how to structure the 90 minute ELA block. We have also shifted our mindset with intervention in order to focus on what our students truly need in terms of literacy instruction. We will also be forming a literacy council to look at what curriculum and instructional tools we have in Cato-Meridian, and if we need something different to meet the ever changing needs of our students.
